29 D Street, Lieutenants Island

The Wasserman property is on Wellfleet's Lieutenants Island, a microcommunity separated from the "mainland" by a causeway and bridge. It is a true summer home, a bit reminiscent of the '60s, the peak of the beach home era when families "summered at the shore", yet totally modern. The house has four bedrooms, phone, TV, and laundry, but you'll want to be outside day and night. The deck includes a roof-top widow's walk (there is no light pollution on the island, so check out the stars) and the Wassermans share a private tennis court (including a basketball hoop) with a neighbor. There is a bay beach 300 yards away and every road on the island is like a nature trail. Residents of the island are proud of a rather odd distinction; twice a month, during full and new phases of the moon (high course tides), the causeway across the salt marsh is briefly under water at high tide and a certain amount of care is necessary when making plans.
