The Vatner cottage on Hiawatha Rd. in Wellfleet is near the end of a one-lane dead-end dirt road, and directly across from Burton Baker Beach on Indian Neck, which some people believe is Wellfleet’s finest bay beach. Instead of a strip of land along the shore, this beach is large and delta-shaped, and there is a little inlet that fills at high tide to create the equivalent of a wading pool for tots. Boats can be beached and/or moored (ask harbormaster for rules). This is a pedestrian-only beach except for a few people who arrive by boat. The cottage itself has a livingroom with raised-hearth fireplace and kitchen along the front facing the beach, with three bedrooms and a full bath behind. Phone, DW, washer, but no TV. Panoramic views of Wellfleet Bay, Great Island, and sunsets.
