The Reed house is at the end of a short, quiet road in South Wellfleet and fronts on one of the larger tidal inlets that scallop the town’s distinctive coastline. Although not considered a swimming beach, the inlet provides a wonderful view of the water, sunsets, and is easily accessible to canoes and other small, light boats. The house has a large central living area with bedrooms to one side (the master bedroom has window AC) and comfortable working kitchen on the other. There is a sparsely furnished family room accessible in the cellar where an additional person or two might sleep by agreement with the owner; otherwise, the head count is limited to 6. It is also possible, occasionally, when dates coincide, to rent at a reduced rate while the family uses the basement apartment with its separate entrance; unless such arrangements are made, the apartment remains unoccupied.
