The Orsini cottage is in a pine-wooded area on a quiet, dead-end dirt road in North Eastham. The cottage has an unusually large living area for a rental, with a living room and separate eat-in kitchen. Behind the kitchen is a low-to-the-ground deck and stone fireplace/cooking area. The back yard also has a hammock and a lockable shed for bikes and beach gear. The first floor has two bedrooms, one of which has a stack-pack washer and dryer in the closet, and a full bath. There are two bedrooms and a half-bath upstairs. The owners have added a full-house exhaust fan in the roof that draws hotter air up and out and installed new windows to take full advantage of Cape Cod breezes without the "sealed" feeling of an air conditioner. The stairway is enclosed with a door at the bottom,but closing it might inhibit the full cooling effect of the fan; if you have young kids, a gate will fit the door frame. The cottage is a mile from Thumpertown Beach (bay) and less than 1/4 mile from the Elks Lodge, where public cookouts are held every weekend. '08
