*In the summer, we're usually at the office until 7 or 8 PM.
How to find us: Once you come over either of the two bridges, you must get on Route 6 East. Stay on Route 6, the "Midcape Highway", past the last actual exit, Exit 12**. Continue to a traffic circle, locally called the Orleans Rotary***. The rotary is on the Orleans/Eastham town line. Enter the rotary and go halfway around, then continue straight. This is still Route 6, but it is a much more rural road with intersections and curb cuts. It is Eastham's main street. To reach our office, go through three traffic lights. The first one is tiny Eastham Center. The second is at the Cape Cod National Seashore Visitors' Center. The third is Brackett Road. Immediately beyond the light on your right is a Valero gasoline station (green and white signs). PETERS REAL ESTATE is the next building after the gas station on the right.
*If you are arriving for a vacation, Exit 12 is where you get off the highway for Shaw's/Star Market.
***If you are arriving for vacation, take the first road off the rotary to go to the Super Stop & Shop for groceries.
These are two ends of the same road, Route 6A, which leads to the shops and restaurants in downtown Orleans.
How to call us:
During the off-season months we rely on a telephone tape recorder (answering machine) at night, on Sundays, and whenever we have to leave the office on errands.
In the summer, we employ Nauset Answering Service. The recorded instructions give you the option of leaving a message that we will receive the morning of the next business day, or reaching one of their live LOCAL humans in an emergency. They know how to contact us 24/7 and your emergency call wil be returned as soon as possible.
In a snowstorm: Cape roads can be treacherous during a snowstorm, or during an "ocean effect squall", a small, localized blizzard. If we are unable to open the office or close early due to bad weather or dangerous road conditions, you can still reach us during business hours. E-mail us with questions. I try to answer e-mails within a couple of hours. (You can use our pre-addressed email by clicking the email button on our web site, too.) If you leave a message on the phone, I'll check the office by remote several times a day and return all calls. And if I know I'm going to be snowed in, I'll have Instant Messaging and/or Skype set up as well so that I can answer questions and describe cottages immediately.**** As always, we ask that reservations be made by phone when the office is open so we can confirm the availability. However, during periods of severe weather I will take tentative bookings from my home and confirm them as soon as weather conditions permit. Of course, it is possible that a winter storm could cause a power failure. If you don't hear from us, it's possible we're in the dark!
****My IM name and Skype phone number will be added after I set a dedicated time at a computer for their use. These are alternative tools for times when the office is closed and may include evening or Sunday hours or just be used during winter weather closings.
